Living a balanced lifestyle can be tricky to achieve but it is essential to improving overall wellbeing. Incorporating some simple healthy habits into your daily routine can have a significant impact on your physical, mental, and emotional health. Here are some tips to help you achieve a balanced lifestyle and increase your overall happiness and well being.

Eat a balanced diet: Fueling your body with nutritious foods is essential for maintaining good health. Aim to include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your meals. Avoid processed foods and excessive sugar, and remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Eating a balanced plant-based diet has been shown to reduce heart disease, various forms of cancer and decrease the effects of aging.
Stay active: Regular physical activity is crucial for overall health and is good for your mental health as well. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy, whether it's going for a walk in the woods, practicing yoga, or even just dancing around your living room to a song (or two) that you love. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week to keep your body strong and your mind sharp. (and also slightly more sane)
Get enough sleep: This is a tough one for me personally. Adequate rest is vital for both physical and mental health. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to allow your body to recharge and repair. Establish a relaxing bedtime routine and create a comfortable sleep environment to optimize your rest. Cut off digital devices at least an hour before bed. A warm bath or a cup of caffeine free tea can help you get in a restful state.
Practice mindfulness: Incorporating mindfulness practices, such as meditation or deep breathing exercises, can help reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing. Take time each day to quiet your mind, focus on the present moment, and cultivate a sense of peace and calm. I find my mindfulness mindset whilst out in nature. When I am out in the woods or floating in my kayak, I can feel my breathing slow, my chest relax and I am definitely more in the moment.
Prioritize self-care: This one is key. (Especially now) Taking care of your mental and emotional health is just as important as caring for your physical health. Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation, whether it's reading a good book, taking a bath, or spending time with loved ones. Remember to set boundaries and say no to things that drain your energy.
